It can be bagasse, wood, grass, silage, stover, construction & demolition debris, municipal solid waste, or many other organic matters. Individual properties vary based on species and how it is preprocessed, stored, and transported. As a result, there are no set material handling standards for bulk densities, moisture content, angle of repose, surcharge angle, flowability standards, abrasiveness, and other properties. Therefore, properly defining the individual biomass characteristics is critical to ensuring consistent and correctly sized feedstock for the processing of the material.
